Nativity film defended (letter)
by Les FernNews Weekly, February 17, 2007
Sir,
I wish to comment on the rather harsh view expressed by Mrs Mary Lou Corboy towards Damian Wyld's review of the film,
The Nativity Story (Letters,
News Weekly, February 3, 2007).
She takes exception to the "few minor errors", especially the showing of both mother and child crying at birth. So what?
She calls this a major error and a denial of one of the most profound doctrines of the Catholic faith!
She may think so, but I am sure the producers of this film made a genuine mistake and did not intend to mislead any Catholics into doctrinal error.
So, please, Mrs Corboy, let's keep this error in its proper perspective and realise that, overall, this Nativity film tells a truly beautiful story.
Les Fern,
Nightcliff, NT
