Water resources (letter)

by Bryan Keaney

News Weekly, September 27, 2008

Sir,

I refer to the excellent letter by John A.H. Brown ("Answer to water crisis", News Weekly, August 2). John is the retired chief water resources engineer of the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Authority.

He designed the Shoalhaven dam that was never built. This would have cost $60 million and would deliver more water than the $2 billion desalination plant at present being built by the NSW state Labor Government, with the associated huge power consumption.

Bryan Keaney,
Pymble, NSW
