Origins of the National Civic Council
The NCC was formed by Mr B. A. Santamaria in the 1940s, when Communism posed a danger to Australia's sovereignty through the Party's hold over the trade union movement and potentially over the ALP and therefore the federal government of the day.
The question then was: Who would determine Australia's future - the elected parliament, or the Communist Party taking its line from Moscow?
This threat has passed, but Australia's sovereignty is again under challenge from two different quarters:
Organised and already-powerful multinationals. Ignoring the common good of societies, they seek to override governments and destroy national barriers that impede their free transfer of capital to low-wage, low-tax nations, as they pursue maximum profits and wealth.
Secular humanist lobbies. Unable to convince the electorate at large through the normal democratic processes, they use United Nations conventions and the executive power of state and federal cabinets to arbitrarily impose on society a new set of anti-family social values that are contrary to our traditional values.
The NCC takes up these challenges. The effort requires dedication and application to the task of building an ever widening base of members, supporters and people of influence, the essential prerequisite to effective counter action.
